El Zapote gallery occupies a narrow, high-ceilinged colonial house with a bright blue facade on calle fifty-eight. It functions as a private space where collectors meet local artists amidst original tiled floors and exposed limestone walls. In the nineteen seventies, the building housed a small grocery store that served the neighborhood families. When the owners converted it into an exhibition space, they kept the interior layout intact, creating a sequence of quiet, domestic rooms that focus the eye on the work on display.
