Druids Head

The Druids Head sits on Brighton Place with a low, black-painted timber frame that leans slightly into the street. It occupies one of the oldest buildings in the city, dating back to the sixteenth century. Smugglers once used the cellar as a secure hold for contraband brought in from the coast, hiding spirits and lace behind the heavy stone walls. Today, the narrow rooms keep the same cramped layout, and the original, soot-stained hearth remains tucked into the back wall.
