Podmore

The white terra cotta facade of the Podmore building features a deep, arched entryway that separates it from the neighboring glass towers. Built in nineteen oh two, it served as the original headquarters for the Davies company, a major player in the sugar industry. Its architect, Oliver Traphagen, drew from his experience in San Francisco to bring neoclassical detailing to the humid streets of Honolulu. Inside, clerks once processed the shipments of raw sugar that defined the local economy for decades.
