Stonington Gallery

other

The Stonington Gallery features a massive, arched storefront window that stretches across the brick facade on Jackson Street. Since nineteen seventy-six, the gallery has focused on contemporary art from the Northwest Coast and Alaska. Founder Nancy Stonington started the space to highlight the work of indigenous artists who were then gaining little traction in traditional fine art circles. She pushed for gallery representation for carvers and weavers whose cultural histories had long been sidelined by mainstream collectors in the Pacific Northwest.
