The reddish granite skin of Scotia Plaza stands out against the surrounding glass towers of the financial district. Built in the late nineteen eighties, the complex occupies a city block once defined by smaller, older offices and narrow laneways. Architects Zeidler Roberts Partnership designed the building with a jagged, stepped silhouette that maximizes the number of corner offices for tenants. Deep inside the lobby, workers hurry past the stark, polished stone walls, continuing a pace set when this tower first opened its doors.
