Thiers Garden

The iron fence surrounding the Thiers Garden keeps the space neatly contained, marking it as a deliberate green island within the dense urban fabric of Boulogne-Billancourt. This plot sits directly atop the site of the former fortified walls of Paris. When the military fortifications were dismantled in the early twentieth century, the city turned the defensive perimeter into a series of open public spaces. A metal plaque near the entrance still identifies the area by the name of the old wall it replaced.
