The bronze bust of General de Gaulle sits atop a stone plinth in the middle of Parc Henri Barbusse, facing the open expanse of the lawn. It is a cast of the original work by sculptor Daniel Malingue, placed here to mark the connection between the city and the leader of the Free French Forces. The general spent time in Issy-les-Moulineaux during his youth, and the city council commissioned this bronze in the nineteen eighties to anchor his presence in the local landscape.
