Square Schuman holds a cluster of mature linden trees and a low stone wall that separates the quiet lawn from the busy streets of Montrouge. It is named for Robert Schuman, the French statesman who helped form the European Coal and Steel Community after the Second World War. During the nineteen eighties, the town converted this land into a public green space to break up the dense housing blocks. A solitary bronze bust of Schuman rests on a pedestal near the path.
