The town hall of the seventeenth arrondissement sits inside a nineteenth century building that features a grand stone staircase and a tall, central clock tower. Architect Paul-Jean Grunwaldt designed this structure to replace an older, cramped facility as the population of the Batignolles area swelled. In eighteen eighty-three, officials chose this site to anchor the district’s administration. Within its walls, local representatives manage civil registries and marriage ceremonies while citizens carry on with the daily business of city governance.
