Promenade Pereire

park garden

The Promenade Pereire stretches as a slender green ribbon, cutting through the seventeenth arrondissement along the old path of the Auteuil railway line. Before it became a public garden, steam trains rattled through these trenches, connecting the city to its western suburbs. The tracks eventually fell silent, and in nineteen eighty-nine, the city filled the corridor with climbing roses, flowering cherry trees, and quiet benches. It remains a sunken sanctuary, shielded from the roar of traffic by walls of limestone and iron.
