The white stone floor of the university atrium contains an inlaid bronze memorial shaped like scattered leaflets. These stone pages mark the spot where Hans and Sophie Scholl were caught in nineteen forty-three while distributing flyers against the Nazi regime. They belonged to the White Rose group, a circle of students who used this hall to challenge the regime from within its own walls. The university custodian spotted them near the top floor and alerted the Gestapo, leading directly to their arrest and execution.
