The Goldschmied vom Schönen Turm features a tall, slender copper spire that rises directly from the middle of the Kreuzviertel neighborhood. This former goldsmith’s workshop serves as a reminder of the artisans who shaped old Munich. Master goldsmiths once hammered precious metals into intricate religious relics here, keeping their furnaces roaring through the night. The heat from those fires often stained the surrounding stonework dark, a color that remains visible on the lower masonry today.
