The copper dome of the Müller’sches Volksbad rises above the banks of the Isar River, topped by a golden lantern. This building was the first indoor public swimming pool in Munich, opened in nineteen oh one. Karl Müller, a local engineer, donated the entire fortune required to build it for the working class who lacked private baths at home. Inside the vaulted halls, swimmers still dive into the original Art Nouveau pool, surrounded by intricate tile work and statues of nymphs.
