Lion's Tower

The Lion's Tower features a high, medieval brick facade tucked into the Angerviertel. It remains the last remnant of the old city wall, which once enclosed Munich during the thirteenth century. When the city expanded, workers tore down most of these fortifications, but the Lion's Tower stayed put because it had been converted into a private residence. A local merchant lived behind these thick walls for decades, keeping the structure intact while the rest of the wall vanished into the city's growing foundations.
