"Euro-Skulptur" von Ottmar Hörl

The giant Euro sign sits on a bright blue base, its twelve golden stars gleaming against the concrete of the Willy Brandt Platz. Sculptor Ottmar Hörl cast this version in two thousand one to celebrate the transition from the deutsche mark to the new currency. When the European Central Bank moved its headquarters across town a decade later, the sculpture stayed behind. It faced an uncertain future until a group of citizens raised enough money to buy the sign and keep it here.
