The Habshush spice shop features walls lined from floor to ceiling with burlap sacks and glass jars filled with dried herbs, roots, and peppers. Opened by Arie Habshush in nineteen thirty-one, the shop began as a small stall in the Levinsky Market. Arie blended his own traditional Yemenite mixtures by hand, using a heavy mortar and pestle. Decades later, his family still runs the business, grinding those same spice blends behind the counter for locals and chefs who visit daily.
