Cape Town Civic Centre

The Cape Town Civic Centre is a massive concrete blockhouse with a stark, brutalist facade that dominates the citys central business district. Its jagged, angled terraces were designed in the late nineteen sixties to house the municipal government during the height of apartheid. City planners pushed the structure toward the harbor, separating it from the historic town center. Thousands of employees worked inside these cavernous offices, while outside, the building stood as a imposing fortress for the ruling administration of that era.
