The Cape Town High Court sits behind a massive, grey stone facade featuring tall columns and a pediment that looks out over Queen Victoria Street. It is the seat of the Western Cape Division of the High Court. Inside these halls, in nineteen sixty-four, Nelson Mandela and other anti-apartheid leaders spent their final days in the city before being transferred to Robben Island. The judges here once enforced segregation laws, and the building now oversees a new constitutional order.
