Newspaper House on St George’s Mall wears a facade of geometric stone carvings that distinguish it from the neighboring glass towers. Built in nineteen thirty-six, the structure served as the headquarters for the Cape Times. Inside those walls, editors and typesetters produced daily accounts of the city for decades. When the newspaper moved its offices in the early two thousands, the building transitioned into commercial spaces. Today, the presses are gone, but the intricate relief work remains embedded in the street-level masonry.
