Founded in nineteen forty-six by Cassiem Shariff, the shop serves as a cornerstone for Cape Malay cooking. Shariff began by sourcing hard-to-find spices and herbs for the local community, blending tradition with the specific needs of the neighborhood. Today, the shelves hold jars of vibrant masala mixes, whole spices, and fragrant petals, still weighed out by hand just as they were decades ago.
