Biesmiellah Restaurant

The exterior of Biesmiellah is marked by bright green trim framing the windows and doors against a simple white facade. It opened in nineteen eighty, founded by Yusuf and Salama Kafaar in the heart of the Bo-Kaap. They started by serving traditional Cape Malay dishes like denningvleis and tomato bredie when these recipes were rarely found in commercial kitchens. The kitchen became a community anchor, keeping long-held family cooking techniques alive while the neighborhood around it changed rapidly.
