The Homecoming Centre is the distinct, modern brick extension grafted onto the older, red-faced Fugard Theatre building. It sits on the edge of the former District Six, a neighborhood cleared of its residents by the apartheid government starting in nineteen sixty-six. While the government demolished thousands of homes, they left this site standing. Today, the centre serves as a space for community memory and exhibition, holding the archives and personal stories of the families who were forced to leave their homes behind.
