Built in seventeen ninety-eight by Reverend Meent Borcherds, the house served as his home for over forty years. Borcherds arrived from the Netherlands and became a local fixture, known for his prolific writing and strict adherence to his duties. The manor stands as a primary example of the town's historical domestic architecture, maintaining its original floor plan while sheltering generations of Stellenbosch families within its thick walls.
