The Oude Leeskamer is marked by a distinctive neo-Dutch gable that faces the street, its white plaster contrasting with the deep green window frames. Built around nineteen oh four, this house served as a private residence before it became the intellectual heartbeat of Stellenbosch. Local professors and students gathered in its library to debate philosophy and politics far into the night. Today, the building holds onto that history as an independent bookstore, keeping the tradition of quiet study and long conversations alive inside.
