Teologiese Kweekskool

The Teologiese Kweekskool features a distinctive, U-shaped gabled structure with a central courtyard that stands apart from the surrounding university buildings. Established in eighteen fifty-nine by the Dutch Reformed Church, it served as the primary training ground for generations of predikants. During the late nineteenth century, Professor Adriaan Hofmeyr famously used this courtyard to argue for his controversial views on church doctrine, causing such a rift that the school eventually held a formal trial to determine his academic fate.
