Ingelesen Landako Kaia

The Ingelesen Landako Kaia, or English Wharf, stretches along the Nervion River as a long, paved stone promenade. It exists because of the mid-nineteenth century mining boom, when British ships docked here to load iron ore for the furnaces of Wales. Local workers often gathered at the water edge to trade with the sailors, picking up goods like English tea and wool. Today, the wharf serves as a quiet riverside path, marking the industrial edge where Bilbao once met the Atlantic world.
