The Montero house features a facade covered in intricate, colorful ceramic tiles arranged in striking floral patterns. Designed by architect Jean Batiste Darroquy in nineteen oh two, the building stands as a prime example of Catalan Modernism transplanted to the streets of Bilbao. While the rest of the neighborhood adopted more sober stone finishes, this structure chose to broadcast its personality in glazed earth and ironwork. Its balconies curve outward, mirroring the organic shapes of the decorative ceramic vines climbing the walls.
