The bright red steel beams of the BilbaoArte building stand out against the grey stone of the surrounding district. This is a center for artistic production housed in a former warehouse for the municipal waterworks. In nineteen ninety-eight, the city converted the space to give local artists studios, printing presses, and gallery rooms. Juan Luis Moraza once filled these halls with his sculptural work. Today, artists occupy the rooms behind the glass facade, working on projects that will eventually head to museums across Europe.
