Bilborock

cultural

The former Church of La Merced is a jagged, stone structure overlooking the Nervion River, distinguished by its sturdy bell tower and heavy, dark masonry. Built in the late seventeenth century, the building served as a sanctuary for decades before falling into disuse. In the nineteen nineties, city planners stripped the interior to its bare, cavernous frame. Now, Bilborock functions as a performance space where local bands and theater troupes plug into the original stone walls, amplified by the building's deep, resonant acoustics.
