The Torre Iberdrola rises as a jagged, crystalline shard of glass and steel, twisting slightly as it climbs forty-one stories above the city. It occupies the site of the former Euskalduna shipyards, serving as the headquarters for one of the world's largest energy companies. Architect Cesar Pelli designed the tower to mirror the triangular shape of its lot. While building it, workers uncovered deep, waterlogged earth that forced them to drive hundreds of concrete piles deep into the bedrock to hold it steady.
