Zubizuri

The Zubizuri bridge spans the Nervion River with a deck suspended from white steel arches that curve like the sail of a ship. Architect Santiago Calatrava designed this pedestrian crossing in the late nineteen nineties to link the city center with the newly developing district across the water. Local residents often call it the white bridge. Rain caused the initial glass floor tiles to become dangerous, leading to frequent slips and the installation of a black anti-slip carpet that remains today.
