The Educulture Junkanoo Museum features a brightly painted exterior that stands out against the surrounding streetscape, decorated with the intricate fringe and cardboard textures characteristic of Bahamian festival costumes. This museum preserves the heritage of Junkanoo, a centuries old street parade born from the traditions of enslaved people who celebrated their brief holiday freedom with rhythmic music and elaborate dress. Founder Arlene Nash Ferguson established this space to catalog the technical craft behind the costumes, moving beyond the spectacle to show the labor involved.
