Government House

The bright pink walls of Government House stand out against the blue harbor of Nassau. This hilltop residence serves as the official home of the Governor General of the Bahamas. Lord Dunmore commissioned the building in the seventeen hundreds, positioning it to catch cooling breezes above the city. During the construction, laborers used local limestone, and the exterior reflects the distinct Georgian architectural style. The Duke of Windsor lived here while serving as governor during the nineteen forties, surrounded by those same coral-colored walls.
