The D'Aguilar Art Foundation

museum

The D'Aguilar Art Foundation occupies a modest, cream-colored building on Virginia Street in Nassau, defined by a distinct wrap-around porch and dark green shutters. Inside, the collection grew from the private passion of Vincent D'Aguilar, a local businessman who began purchasing Bahamian art in the nineteen sixties. He famously bought whatever work caught his eye, often supporting emerging artists before they gained wider recognition. Today, the space houses thousands of paintings and sculptures that document the evolution of Bahamian visual culture.
