National Art Gallery of The Bahamas

The National Art Gallery of The Bahamas occupies the Villa Doyle, a grand two story mansion defined by its deep wraparound verandas and white neoclassical columns. Built in eighteen sixty for a chief justice, the house sat abandoned for years after the family moved away. By the nineteen nineties, it stood derelict with gaping holes in its roof. Public pressure saved the structure from demolition, leading to its complete restoration as the home for the country's national collection of Bahamian art.
