Parliament Square

Parliament Square features a row of pastel-pink colonial buildings with white shutters and limestone walls. These structures date back to the early nineteenth century and house the Bahamian Parliament, the Senate, and the Supreme Court. In eighteen eighty-five, a statue of Queen Victoria was placed in the center of the square to mark her jubilee. The site serves as the administrative heart of the capital, where local lawyers still don traditional horsehair wigs during the opening of the legal year.
