The SkyView Atlanta ferris wheel stands two hundred feet above the downtown streets, its forty-two climate-controlled gondolas glowing against the city skyline at night. Built in twenty-thirteen, the structure occupies the edge of Centennial Olympic Park. When the wheel first opened, operators moved it from a temporary stint in Pensacola, Florida. The owners promised a permanent installation, yet they spent years negotiating with city officials to secure the land rights. It remains a fixture for tourists seeking a view of the Georgia Dome site.
