The Tabernacle features a copper dome sitting atop a structure of deep red brick, standing out against the modern glass towers of downtown Atlanta. Originally built as an infirmary for the nineteen ninety-six Cotton States and International Exposition, it later became the home of the Third Baptist Church. Dr. Broughton, the founding pastor, once traded his own salary to ensure the building was completed. It functioned as a place of worship for decades before becoming the music venue that stands here today.
