AmericasMart Atlanta

AmericasMart consists of three massive, interconnected glass-and-concrete towers in downtown Atlanta. It functions as a permanent wholesale marketplace where store buyers come to purchase inventory for retail shops across the country. Architect John Portman designed the first building in nineteen fifty-seven, betting that gathering wholesalers under one roof would revitalize the city center. He lined the interior with tiered showrooms and dramatic, sweeping escalators that still carry buyers between levels today. It transformed the way regional merchants sourced their goods.
