The Ponce Condominium is a block-long, six-story building of buff-colored brick topped with a steep, red-tiled roof. Completed in nineteen thirteen, it was one of the first luxury apartment complexes in Atlanta, designed for residents who wanted the convenience of hotel living with the privacy of a home. In nineteen twenty-five, the building gained a local reputation when the pioneering doctor Crawford Long’s niece lived here, holding court in a suite that hosted many of the city’s social and political figures.
