Meyerson Symphony Center

The Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center wears a curved glass wall that bows outward toward the street, wrapping around a limestone drum. Inside this shell, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra plays in a hall designed by I M Pei and acoustician Russell Johnson. During construction, the project stalled when local voters rejected a bond issue, forcing private donors to scramble for millions of dollars to keep the vision alive. Ross Perot eventually led that effort, famously demanding the building bear his mother’s name.
