Thanks-Giving Square is defined by a spiraling, white bell tower that rises above the street level, shaped like a conical seashell. This sunken garden and chapel serve as a private space for public gratitude in the middle of the Dallas business district. In nineteen sixty-four, Peter Stewart founded a foundation to promote the idea of gratitude as a common human bond. He spent years lobbying for this specific plot of land, eventually persuading the city to grant him the space for this purpose.
