The Winspear Opera House rises as a wall of red glass panels, shaped into a horseshoe that glows against the Dallas skyline. It serves as the home for the Dallas Opera, designed by Foster and Partners to rethink how an audience encounters a performance. During the opening gala in two thousand nine, the internal stage mechanics malfunctioned, leaving the cast to perform in near silence. The company finished the show anyway, using only the natural acoustics of the room to reach the audience.
