The massive, tan brick tower rising above the intersection features a distinct, stepped pyramid roof topped by a glowing neon star. Built in nineteen thirty-one as the regional headquarters for the United States Postal Service, it functioned as the city's primary mail processing hub for decades. Inside, workers sorted thousands of letters daily beneath high, ornate ceilings. When the post office vacated in the mid-seventies, the structure sat empty until a renovation converted the industrial floors into modern offices and apartments.
