Dallas County Courthouse

The Dallas County Courthouse features a striking facade of red sandstone, carved with intricate Romanesque arches and tall, pointed towers that contrast sharply with the glass skyscrapers nearby. Built in eighteen ninety-two, it replaced an earlier structure that had grown too cramped for the growing city. When Judge Nat Lewis presided here, he reportedly kept a loaded shotgun on his bench, a necessity in a rough, young town. Today, the building serves as the Old Red Museum, housing local history exhibits.
