The Steves Homestead stands out for its three-story mansard roof and the ornate, wrap-around iron lace galleries that define its Victorian profile. Built in eighteen seventy-six by lumber mogul Edward Steves, the home served as the family residence for nearly eighty years. When the family finally donated it to the San Antonio Conservation Society in nineteen fifty-two, they included almost all of the original furnishings. You can see the heavy walnut furniture and gas chandeliers exactly as the Steves family arranged them.
