Buffalo Nations Stand and Be Noticed

The Buffalo Nations Stand and Be Noticed sculpture features a towering, weathered steel frame shaped like a tipi, with silhouettes of running buffalo etched into the metal. It marks the historical presence of the Blackfoot, Tsuut’ina, and Nakoda nations on these lands long before the city grid arrived. In nineteen ninety-eight, artist Reg Crowshoe worked with the community to ensure the placement honored specific protocols. The steel rusts naturally, mirroring the changing landscape and the enduring connection between indigenous history and urban development.
