Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre

landmark

The Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre is anchored by a massive, four-story pagoda roof covered in thousands of traditional blue ceramic tiles imported from China. Completed in nineteen ninety-two, the building mimics the design of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. The center opened to provide a permanent space for the local Chinese community to preserve their language and traditions. During the grand opening, organizers successfully petitioned to have the nearby street officially renamed Dragon City Mall for the surrounding neighborhood.
