Palliser Square One rises as a stark, white concrete tower against the Calgary skyline, topped by a distinctive, rotating circular restaurant that no longer turns. Built in nineteen sixty-nine, the structure sits directly above the city's main rail corridor. When the builders broke ground, they had to sink massive concrete piles deep through the station platform and down into the bedrock to support the weight without crushing the tracks below. The tower remains a fixture of the city's twentieth-century skyline.
