Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre

Studio Bell rises from the East Village as a series of nine interlocking towers clad in glazed terra-cotta. It houses the National Music Centre, built to consolidate Canada’s musical heritage under one roof. Architect Brad Cloepfil designed the structure to echo the curves of musical instruments and the mountains visible to the west. Inside, the King Eddy hotel remains embedded in the floor plan. Builders painstakingly dismantled the old jazz venue brick by brick and integrated the original walls into the new museum lobby.
